A recap of 2015

Dear all,

In a blink of an eye, 2015 is speeding to an end and 2016 is just around the corner. It is apt to take stock of what has transpired in 2015 for me. This is just a write-up to share with my readers so that they can understand more about me and my route this year as a remisier. It is not a write-up on the market or stocks in general.

For me, 2015 is a year of many “firsts”. Below are some of the “firsts” from the mainstream media such as Bloomberg, Business Times, BTInvest, Channel NewsAsia, Lianhe Zaobao, Today etc in chronological order.

 

31 Dec 2014: 1st time quoted on Bloomberg

On 31 Dec 2014, I was quoted on Bloomberg. I was thrilled as it was my first time where my comments were published on Bloomberg.

 

12 Apr: 1st time picture on Lianhe Zaobao

Lianhe Zaobao has always been very supportive and have frequently sought my comments. However, in Apr, they published my photo together with my comments. I appreciate this gesture as most readers do not know that my Chinese name is 林伟杰.

25 May & 26 May: 1st time extensively quoted on Business Times

In May 2015, there were two articles on Business Times (on Stratech) and Business Times made extensive reference to my blog. They mentioned that I have interviewed Dr David, Executive Chairman of Stratech and have written a write-up on my blog. This was the first time that I have seen Business Times used materials extensively from a blog to do their write-up on a company. Usually, they will interview analysts or cite information from analysts’ reports.

 

July 2015 – moved my blog from ernestlim15.blogspot.com to ernest15percent.com

As my blog gains more traffic, I find that it is a good time to invest time and resources in my blog and move it to ernest15percent.com. In retrospect, this is a good move as it raises traffic by multiple fold.

 

6 Oct 2015 – 1st article contribution to BTInvest

This was a breakthrough as BTInvest is the Personal Finance and Investment Arm of The Business Times. Going forward, my articles will be regularly reproduced on BTInvest.

 

11 Dec 15 -1st TV appearance on Channel NewsAsia

This was another breakthrough. On 11 Dec, it was my 1st TV appearance on Channel NewsAsia  http://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/business/bhg-retail-reit-raises/2340216.html

 

12 Dec 15 -1st time quoted on Today

After being quoted on several print media, my comments were finally sought and published on Today. This is another positive development.

In retrospect, I am fortunate to have good friends in the media. I do hope that we can continue to stay in touch and look forward to another exciting year in 2016!

 

Remisier industry gets tougher through the years

The remisier industry is not easy and fraught with challenges, especially with low market turnover; competitive rates from other brokerage houses, waning interest from the retail investors / traders etc. Without the support from clients, readers, friends, media and family, it is not easy to continue along this road. My heartfelt appreciation to all of you.

 

Still optimistic in 2016

Notwithstanding the challenging remisier industry, I am still very optimistic in 2016 and will continue to provide unique insights in small mid caps in Singapore.
